School Board Approves Secondary Student Return to Five-Day Phase on April 5, 2021
Last night, the Wauwatosa School Board voted to transition Phase Into Learning students in middle and high school back to five-day-per-week in-person instruction beginning on the first day of the fourth quarter: Monday, April 5, 2021. Middle and high school students in Tosa Connected will begin five-day-per-week synchronous learning on Monday, April 5, 2021.
Elementary students will not have class on Monday, April 5, 2021 and this will continue to be a professional learning day for our JK-5 and 6th grade Montessori staff.
The Board based its decision on the following factors:
Maximizing stability for students, staff and families.
Preparing students and staff for the transition, college-readiness exams and post-high school plans.
Continuing mitigation procedures including mask-wearing, increased handwashing, maximized HVAC air exchange and honoring personal space to the extent possible.
A recording of the Board meeting will be published to the District’s YouTube channel later today. The Board had previously approved the District’s comprehensive plan, which includes details about returning to five-day-per-week in-person/synchronous instruction. Please note that there will be no model of instruction changes authorized for secondary students for the remainder of the school year.
Families will receive additional communication regarding this transition as we get closer to Monday, April 5. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact your building principal.
