Vel R. Phillips School Educator Nominated for Changemaker of the Year Award

Ms. Krishana Robinson, an educator at Vel R. Phillips School in Wauwatosa, has been nominated for a 2021 Wisconsin Public Education Network Changemaker of the Year award!


“Krishana is an amazing teacher who engages students in high interest, targeted instruction,” said Rebecca Kirchman, who nominated Robinson for the award. “She strives to connect with students and does so with what looks like ease. She is reflective and always finds ways for her students to also reflect and access higher-level thinking. She transforms her classroom into a safe space to learn and grow.” 


At Vel R. Phillips School, Robinson works with youth who have made contact with the criminal justice system through the Milwaukee Juvenile Detention facility. She has served with the school since 2017. She was previously a teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools. 


Robinson will was honored at the WPEN Summer Summit program on Monday, August 2. She holds a master’s degree in elementary education and teaching from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
