Ms. Deb Sellers
Hello, I am Deb Sellers K-5 Physical Educator at Underwood Elementary and JV Girls Golf and Softball Coach at Wauwatosa East. I received my B.S. in K-12 Physical Education from UW-Eau Claire, Adaptive PE from UW-Stevens Point and my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Aurora University. I have been teaching physical education since 1987 and have worked with Wauwatosa Schools since 1992. My mission is to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment through standards-based curriculum, which allows children to experience positive, challenging and enjoyable physical activity while learning about the benefits and importance of maintaining a physically active lifestyle.
As a physical education teacher for your child(ren), I strive to show kids how fun being physically active can be. The human body was built to move in many different ways and I hope help students find a few ways to move that they can enjoy to keep them healthy. I am always trying to find new and different lessons/activities to keep students engaged and learning Activities are meant to enhance the psychomotor, cognitive and affective development of all children and standards for that development are both challenging and achievable. Both cooperative and competitive learning environments are utilized to help students develop a variety of lifelong skills. Students are taught to work with others to achieve common goals and are taught to preserve the dignity and self-respect of every student. Students are also taught to appreciate competition, within themselves and among others, and see it as a way to demonstrate competence and personal accomplishments. They are taught to achieve a healthy balance and appreciate both effort and achievement.
