Amnesty International
-
East High School’s chapter of Amnesty International is an active group that works to further the principles of human rights through activism, participatory citizenship, service and education. While our ultimate goal is to create a more just, peaceful society and world, we work to create change both globally and locally.
We hold meetings twice monthly, where we sign “urgent action” letters and petitions addressed to leaders whose countries are in violation of human rights. We sponsor speakers who educate our group and the larger school community on various topics of interest and host other activities and events that promote tolerance and respect. We also organize Jamnesty, an annual benefit concert for local charities and community justice organizations.
Anyone is welcome to be a part of our group!
