I have been teaching in the Wauwatosa School District for the past 18 years. I began working at the Alternative Program teaching students from Tosa who were in 11th and 12th grade and were credit deficient. In 2011 I transferred to the Juvenile Justice Center where I taught kids who were incarcerated.  During that time the virtual school in Wauwatosa was beginning and I was asked to try it out with a group of students I was teaching at JJC. It was pretty successful in allowing some of the high school students that were incarcerated earn credits. In 2014, Wauwatosa Virtual Academy went statewide and myself along with two other colleagues started working on the implementation of the program. Today I am the program teacher at WVA. I meet with local students when they are having difficulties and would like to meet with someone face-to-face. I also monitor the progress of all students in our program to be sure they are working and staying on-pace for completion.
