I have been the K-12 Gifted and Advanced Learner Coordinator since 2008. Previously, I was a Learning Coordinator and District Teacher Leader at the elementary level. These positions included programming for advanced learners and students with gifts and talents. I taught at the elementary level in Wauwatosa prior to concentrating on gifted education and staff development.

I believe the interests of children with gifts and talents are best served when parents and educators work together. Nothing guarantees the stability of school programs for the gifted as much as strong parental support, involvement, and advocacy. I urge all parents to become involved on behalf of children with gifts and talents whether it is by providing a resource for a school, attending an Advanced Learner Parent Network Meeting, participating at a parents' association meeting, or supporting gifted education through political action.

In order to help build and maintain strong partnerships with parents, I am a SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of Gifted) certified facilitator and have led many parent discussion groups. Additionally, I'm an active member of the Partners for the Advancement of Gifted Education (PAGE) Organization in Southeastern Wisconsin and have helped to organize and host events for students with gifts and talents as well as parents.

After over 30 years in the field, I am still inspired by the opportunity educators have to make a profound and lasting difference in the lives of others.
