School Profile
-
The original McKinley Elementary was built in 1929. In 2021, our new building was completed as part of the Wauwatosa School District's $124.9M facilities referendum. The school serves parts of the Pasadena, Swan Park, Parkway Estates, and Ludington Commons neighborhoods. Given these neighborhoods' rich history, elements of the original McKinley Elementary were preserved and incorporated into the new building.
Our school consistently performs well in the Department of Public Instruction's State Report Cards. In the 2016-2017 school year, we received the Overall Accountability score of "Significantly Exceeds Expectations".
As a school community, we have fully embraced composting and recycling as part of our day-to-day routines which has earned us several awards and designations including:
- 2017 Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Recycling Excellence Award in the category: Recycling Projects and Initiatives. Two of our teachers also received individual 2017 Recycling Excellence Awards for spearheading this program.
- Designation of a Green & Healthy "Sprout School" of Wisconsin - Reducing Environmental Impact, Improving Health & Wellness, Increasing Environmental & Sustainability Literacy. (Department of Public Instruction)
